Is my USB-C cable covered under warranty?

My laptop was charging overnight and due to the funky position it was in, the USB-C cable was bent and the heat from the laptop melted part of the cable. Unfortunately, the cable no longer works to charge my laptop. I was wondering if my cable is under warranty and if I would be able to get a new one for free or if I have to buy a new one.

The cable is covered under Warranty. However, accidental damage is not covered. Warranty covers manufacturing defects, and assembly problems that are attributable to the manufacturing process.

You can take it into an Apple store and see what they say, but be prepared to buy a new cable.
