Loading MP4 videos onto Mac's "Photos" app
How do I get MP4 videos, shot on my Galaxy phone onto my MacBook's "Photos" app? I have tried several tactics unsuccessfully. Suppose I must convert the MP4 files but how while still on the Galaxy? Help.

Hi,
You don't need to convert the Mp4 files. They should import into Photos.
Plug your phone into your Mac, and then open the Photos app on your Mac. If your Galaxy works like an iPhone, your phone will be displayed as a device in the Photos app side bar. Click on the device item and an import window will open. It may take a few seconds for the videos on your phone to populate the import window. When they all download, select the ones that you want to import and click the import button. All of your videos will download into the Photos app.
If you are still having trouble, this link may be of help to you in explaining how to get photos and videos from your Phone or external device to your Mac:

My iPhone shows nothing in Finder, either. However, when I open the Photos app after plugging in the iPhone and opening the Photos app, the phone shows as a device in the Photos sidebar. Have you tried that?
You can also try emailing the videos to yourself and then moving them to your hard drive.
Another way might be to download your Mp4's to a thumb drive or other external drive, and transfer them to your Mac that way.

That's the problem. The Mac does not recognize the Galaxy phone. "Finder" shows nothing when the Galaxy is plugged into the MacBook. I think this may be deliberate by the Apple folks. Is there any work-around?
