I got that new iPad Air 3. On the left most screen, I see that it has been dedicated to show widgets. I've removed all the widgets but the screen doesn't go away. Is there a way to remove this screen meant for widgets?

No. Whether you use widgets or not, the screen serves other useful functions and is hard coded into iOS.
No, that screen also serves the purpose of the "Search" feature.
Use iPod touch to search for content - Apple Support for example.
