VPN for older ipad2 on ios 7.1

My old Ipad2 is still on ios 7.1 (on purpose) but I'd like to find a VPN app that will work with it. All the apps I've tried to download on itunes require ios 9. Is there a VPN app in the apple store that will download on older OS? I need something reputable, with good pricing. Thanks.

Thanks. You're probably right, but I'll look around and see what I can find. If I can't find an app, I know that I can set up a VPN with the ipad network settings. An app would just be easier.

My ipad 2 is old, and I'm running a 6 year old version of IOS to keep it from bogging down. I've seen too many other older devices slow to a crawl after successive updates. Mine works just fine for the web browsing that I use it for. I'm not going to drop another $500 for a newer tablet that functionally doesn't benefit me. I'd rather spend that money on a new lappy or phone.

I agree that the newer ipads are much more capable (I have an Air2, as well), but after getting a smartphone and enjoying the smaller form factor, I've used the ipads much less. It works just fine for the occasional web browsing, with no lag. I don't need access to additional apps on the ipad, I'll just download what I need on my Samsung S9+. I thought a vpn might be nice for the ipad, and if I can't find an app that's compatible, I'll just set one up without an app. Thanks for the feedback, though.

Uh,

Newer iPads have a lot more features and are, at least 10 to 15 times faster and have, at least, 4 times the internal RAM than a 9-year iPad 2.

I believe, functionally, a new or much newer iPad would, definitely, benefit you.

I have an iPad 2. Not every single one of them slowed down with iOS 9.

Mine never slowed to a crawl as some iPad 2 users had experienced, but the iOS 9 slow down issue seemed to be a 50/50 risk proposition.

My iPad 2 runs fairly well as I turn off a lot of uneccessary features and do some settings optimisations.

The iPad 2 was almost as bad as the 1st gen, 2010 iPad.

Both the iPad 1 and 2 had internal hardware that was hopelessly underpowered that it couldn't even run iOS 9 well and, probably, couldn’t handle anything from iOS 10!

The iPad 2 has a clocked down 1.0 Ghz CPU ( dynamically clocked down to 800 Mhz ). Only 512 MBs ( NOT GBs ) of RAM.

AND a woefully out of date wireless Bluetooth spec that can't run many modern wireless Bluetooth devices and modern, third party, Bluetooth smart stylii!

Comparatively, most 3-4 year old iPads have, at least a 1.0-1.5 GHz or greater CPU, at least 2 GBs of RAM, more up to date WiFi, Cellular and Bluetooth specs and much better touch screen technologies and more modern fature rich iOS with multitasking similar to multitasking on a full blown computer

I would never, EVER spend $500-1000 on any smart phone or iPhone! A smart phone is a phone!

I do not need an expensive phone in my pockets that I would NOT use everyday other than for messaging and phone calls.

I DO need a portable tablet device to do many of the creative things I can’t always do on my Mac or is NOT a convenient to do on my Mac.

I view the iPad as an actual work/idea device that I can do more with than a small handheld mobile phone can do.

I'd rather spend that money on an iPad, software or hardware accessories for my older Mac or for my current 3-year old iPad Pro.

The 2018 6th gen, 9.7 inch iPad or the new 2019 10.5 inch screen iPad Air are soooo much faster and run much more efficiently on newer versions of iOS.

Even 3 and 4 year old iPads/iPad Pros runs much faster on the current iOS than an iPad 2nd generation!

You are really hurting and doing yourself a horrible disservice and experience trying to do anything on that 9-year old iPad that doesn't even have access to more up to date and more current apps on that device.

IOS 9 still has a 5-6 current and more up to date and secure Web browsers left!

At least my iPad 2 is still getting daily app updates from third party apps developers that I can still use everyday.

I have made ways to make my iPad 2 somewhat faster on iOS 9 and still be a productive tablet to use when I need it!

Best of Luck to You!
