Hi I have 2 iPhones a 6 and a 7. One is for work one for personal. Therefore with different configurations as I refuse to have work stuff on my personal phone.
i want to swap them over to make my personal phone the work phone and vice Versa.
both backed up onto my Mac air.
how best to do it?

If you work iPhone has been assigned to you and monitored by your employer then you need to take approval for the swap.
If both are your iPhone and one of them has your organisations profile installed in the iPhone using device management then you need to delete the Device management from you iPhone first. This can be installed on your second iPhone later..
Now the task is very simple.
Take back up of bot your iPhones. Name them appropriately.
Restore from backup using the desired backup
Restore iPhone A using backup of B
Restore iPhone B using Backup of A
Swap the SIM, if you desire, at any point of time.
