voicemail
i have never had a voicemail password and when i got the xs max a couple month ago it told me i need a password to get into my voicemail and it won’t let me creat a new one

Contact your carrier. Voicemail is a carrier function, and they can help you reset your password. You've always had a password, just probably had help when you got the first iPhone to set it at the carrier. It is usually by default the last 4 digits of your phone number, but get help from your carrier.
