IPhone 7+ not registering headphones

My iPhone 7+ Has been having this problem where it has just randomly stopped registering me having headphones in. I got a brand new pair of headphones and they worked for the first month and out of nowhere they kept stuttering and turning on and off. I thought this was just the headphones. But, I one night borrowed a friends headphones and plugged them into my phone and they were not working! I told him they were not working and he plugged them into his phone and they worked like nothing happened! I’m outraged by this because I am unable to even listen to music anymore! I don’t like AirPods or Bluetooth headphones so I prefer wired. I’ve also tried using the 3.5mm jack to lightning adapter and that is still not working! I can still charge my phone but I cannot listen to music.

Hi Kenshev,

I recommend that you start by remove any debris from the Lightning port on the bottom of your device. The article below is about charging issues, but you can use it as a reference.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't charge: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201569

Also, if you haven't updated yet, I recommend that you do. Updating to the latest version of iOS can help isolate potential software issues. The article below can help.

If the issue persists after cleaning the port and updating iOS, then it could be the port itself. You may need to have a technician from an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider look into it.

Another step that you could do before taking your device to a technician is to perform a restore. If you have a Mac or PC with iTunes, you can have the iOS reinstalled through a restore. This step will completely remove potential software issues out of the equation.

A technician is most likely going to perform a restore anyway, so it may be more convenient to simply take it to an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
