"Failed: unable to complete touch ID setup" error after iPhone update

Dear technical service,

I have just updated my iPhone 6s to version iOS 12.3.1.

Immediately after the update, I have got this error ("Failed: unable to complete touch ID setup") while trying to turn it on. I've tried to reboot the phone but it didn't help. The passcode works just fine.

My "Add a Fingerprint" is gray and I can't switch on the other "use touch ID for:" buttons - I get the same error. Before the update it worked just fine.

Please advise.

Thank you,

Inna

I have the same problem on a new 6S I just got from Verizon.

Touch ID was working fine. Updated to 12.3.1 and now it doesn't work. Existing fingerprint not recognized.

I removed the fingerprint and tried to scan a new one and its as if the sensor doesn't know my finger is on it. Keeps saying to cover the whole sensor. Rebooted the phone and the problem is still there.
