How to reset screen setting s Mac Mini, High Sierra

Mac Mini and external screen, changed resolution and now cannot use the screen

I have a Mac Mini and extern screen which is connected via HDMI cable.B y accident I did select a resolution that my screen does not support, and now the screen is black. Is there anything I can do to reset the resolution settings? I tried to reset the PRAM, but that didnt seem to solve the problem.

Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac - Apple Support

"If you can't change the resolution of your display because you can't see an image, restart your Mac in safe mode to reset the display resolution to defaults.

If starting in safe mode doesn't resolve the issue, reset your Mac's NVRAM and SMC to reset the video ports on your Mac to their defaults."

Thanks for your answer. In order to reset the factory default on the screen I had to connect an old Mac mini (2009). Therefore I reconnect this mini using a Dvi to Thunderbolt adapter and made the factory reset on the screen. Then I disconnected the mini 2009 and connected my (new) mini 2012 also using Dvi to Thunderbolt and it worked :-)))) !!!!!!!!!!! When I got the "new" mini 2012 a week a go, I set it up with a Dvi to Hdmi connection and it worked fine until I changed the screen settings on the Mini (because I got some errors when connecting a blu ray player ) Now the Dvi to Hdmi solution doesn´t work at all, telling me to make it 60hz (it is !!) I preferred the Hdmi to Dvi because I need the Thunderbolt port on the Mini for other equipment. But for now I have my Mini on the screen again, thanks :-))))

Hi Malcolm Thanks for you answer Unfortunately it didn´t solve the problem. When starting in Save mode the Apple logo was shown and when it was finished loading, the screen turned white for a moment, then for a second the Apple logo returned in opposite color (black on a white screen) After that the screen showed a pop-up info saying frequency out af range

It's good to hear that the screen is working, although not as you wanted. When you say screen what kind of display are you using? Is it a monitor or a TV? I assume since you are using DVI that it is a monitor. If so what kind and model number? Usually the monitor's settings display will appear over whatever you have hooked up to it thus allowing you modify the monitor to suit your needs.

When gong to Advanced setting window - input select, there are 2 options: Analogue 1 & Analogue 2

The monitor is on "Analogue 2"

When trying to select Analogue 1 the screen turns black for 2 seconds, returns back to normal screenpicture and remain on Analogue 2

There are no digital options/mode

(When I use HDMI connection I can´t reach the monitors OSD)

Systempreferences - Screen on the Mac is "Standard" 60 Hz
