When using screen share via messages, is it possible to be on opposite ends of the country, and have it still work?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.13

Distance does not matter. As long as you can access the other Mac/user via Messages, then you can screen share on the other side of the world.

I believe Back to My Mac has to be enabled in Sys Prefs iCloud,,,

But earlier today iCloud was having problems...
