My bluetooth Bose soundlink doesn't reconnect automatically to my iphone8 when I power the speaker back on.

My bluetooth Bose soundlink doesn't reconnect automatically to my iphone8 when I power the speaker back on. It should, because this worked well with my previous iphone model. Now I have to (bluetooth) connect manually in the Settings app each time.

Maybe the following observation has something to do with it:

The speaker says "Connected to Ipad2 ..." when I manually connect my iphone8 to the Bose soundlink speaker. When I initiated my iphone8 at first, I used my Ipad for it (by holding it nearby as suggested). So maybe the speaker gets the bluetooth id from my ipad instead of the iphone now.

Hi ton209,

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities. It sounds like your Bose speaker is not connecting automatically to your iPhone 8. I'd love to provide information that may help.

From what you've described, it sounds like your speaker is connecting automatically to your iPad rather than to your iPhone. Try to temporarily turn off Bluetooth for your iPad to see if that causes the speaker to automatically connect to your iPhone 8.

If this resolves the issue, you'll want to tap on the "i" next to the speaker under Settings > Bluetooth on your iPad and forget the speaker there.

Also, after making sure that you have a current backup, you'll also want to make sure your iPhone is updated to iOS 12.3.1. Here are the steps for updating: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If none of these steps seem to help, you may want to make sure there is not a firmware update available for your speaker.

Take care!

Hello ton209,

Thanks for getting back to us and providing that information. I'd love to help further.

Do you have any other Bluetooth devices paired with your iPhone? If so, do those connect automatically to your iPhone when turned on? If they do, it may be an issue with the speaker itself, and you'd want to reach out to Bose for more information.

Also, to further test this, make sure that Bluetooth is turned off on all devices that may be in range of the speaker. This will rule out that the speaker is connecting more quickly to another device than it is to your iPhone.

You mentioned that you thought the issue may be that you initially used your iPad with Quick Start to set up your iPhone. To ensure that isn't what is causing this, you may want to restore your iPhone to factory settings by using iTunes on a computer. Be sure to have a current backup prior to restoring, as this will erase your iPhone.

You'll then want to set up your iPhone as new, rather than from a backup to test the issue. If your speaker connects automatically and without any problems, you may have been right about the Bluetooth settings from your iPad carrying over to your iPhone.

Hi jeremy_v,

Thank you for your reply. My problem is not that simple I'm afraid. The speaker is not connecting to my Ipad, but to my Iphone, but only by activating the connection again through the Settings App on the Iphone. This is cumbersome and not the way it should work.

So to restate the problem: The speaker is paired with my Iphone8 but when I power it on the speaker it doesn't connect automatically. I both tried to remove the bluetooth profile on my Iphone as clearing al device from the Bose spreaker.

Thanks for any suggestion!

Cheers,

Ton

Hi Allen,

I managed to fix the problem by resetting de device-list in the speaker (previous paired devices) and deleted the connection on the iphone and ipad.

After again pairing the bluetooth connection from my iphone to the speaker, it gets automatically established when the speaker is powered on again.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Ton
