Water Damage; Screen Questions

So my iPad has been a victim of water damage. I don’t know how long it was in water, I just went to my room and saw my bag was leaking, which contained both a water bottle and my iPad. I never put my iPad in rice or anything since (yesterday) but now the screen is completely black. The screen top layer is open enough for me to lift it a little, so I was wondering: If I take that layer off, can I clean it and dry it than put the screen back in place?

In addition to kb 951’s great advice, that iPad is quickly approaching 6 years old and has some 8 year old iPad 2 technology in it!

The out of warranty costs for an identical, but refurbished iPad Mini replacement will be 60% of its original cost.

For that amount of money, better just to purchase something new or refurbished and get a more modern and more up to date iPad.

Now maybe the time to “bite the bullet” and get yourself a new or discounted, refurbished iPad from Apple or from Apple's Website or online Certified Refurbished store.

There are lots of models of iPads to choose from, now, that will be much newer than your damaged iPad Mini and support the current iOS version.

Make sure you spend the extra cash for two-year extended AppleCare+ warranty with a new or refurbished iPad purchase.
