Series 4 Watch Broken After Swim

Purchased a series 4 Apple Watch from Best Buy. I had the series 1 but decided to upgrade that way I can bring it with me when I swim. So, 2 days later take family vacation to Hawaii and go swim in the ocean for maybe an hour and a half. I was nervous so was watching it most of the time Making sure it was still on, it was working 90% of the time then once I was done swimming I noticed it would not come on. The watch was warm after I got out of the water. I tried holding both buttons down multiple times, and charged it all night. My conclusion is somehow the water resistance that is advertised failed on this specific watch. As many of my friends with series 3 and 4 watches swim with them all the time. The swimming was normal swimming and wading, no fast paced water skiing or anything. (The same kind of swimming seen in the hokey pokey trailer for the Apple Watch series 4). I don’t know what to do as the chat support assistance simply told me to take it for inspection by technicians which I would be fine with if I knew they weren’t going to ask me to pay a large sum of money for repair when it is product failure that is not my fault. If anyone has experienced this please help as I am lost with what to do and down $464.

The same thing happened to me, only everything worked fine after swimming 4 or 5 times in fresh and saltwater. Then an Apple email recommended I turn on a control app about water. So I did and now my watch face will come on for ½ second, then tells me to turn the crown to eject water. No water comes out, but the icon grows and shrinks. I can only repeat this ad-finitum and not access the apps grid or control center anymore.
