Emergency number for apple watch SOS

What type of emergency number do most people use? If I use friend/neighbor they might not pick up.

What others do may be useless for you. First, remember the family or friend emergency contacts are there to be informed after you have done the primary call to 911. They are secondary contacts, not first responders who can handle your emergency or save your life.

You may have a valid point about individuals not picking up the call or message, but that can be a problem with any call to a single contact rather than a dispatch center. Fortunately you can select multiple emergency contacts, and some can be main and backup contacts. You should be thinking about the range of people you want, and what function they will have. Some could be family who just need to know if you get hauled off to the ER, others might be neighbors who could help emergency workers get to you, or maybe they have agreed to care for pets if you are admitted to hospital after an incident. The point is, there will always be someone on your list who can’t be reached and you need to make the list robust enough to deal with that.
