Iwatch

I bought an iwatch for my daughter in 2016 at Grand Central on month of July,

but then my daughter did not open the

box and decided not to use the iwatch since she had another pair , she got busy at work and realized that she had an iwatch and its only the other day she decided to unbox it but she was disappointed as its not functioning, it was charging a bit but its stops, do you think its battery was the problem? ( know its sounds weird and funny)

please advise if someone encounter the same issue.
