Since the new iOS 12 update that I got today I was wondering if the alarm still goes off as I can no longer see the alarm icon in the right hand corner of the screen so I want to know if the alarm still works ?

Test it yourself. Set an alarm about 5minutes in the future, put your phone down and wait.
