i have tried many times to delete the recents from my apple watch 4, watchOS 5.2.1, att. is mirrored to iPhone X, iOS 12.3.1, still won't delete. have reset device, no dice. have unpaired, should not have to be unpaired for this to remove recents. any fixes by anyone else?

As you have said, the watch mirrors the iPhone. Delete on your iPhone and the watch will be updated. However, there is no real need to delete the call history, the watch and phone should manage it automatically.
In the case of deleting things from the Watch, it can take some time for the change to be reflected. Most users report it updates overnight when you charge your Watch. If thats not the case, contact Apple Support to make sure all settings and connections are set up correctly.
So you have deleted recents from your iPhone? It should mirror whatever you have on your iPhone if that’s the setting you have selected in the Apple Watch app for phone calls.
that would be the correct, but it doesn't delete the call history on my watch. hence the question, is there any other solution than unpairing/repairing.
