setting up a new iPhone for my 12 yr old son. during set up, can i restore from an iCloud backup saved under my apple id? his iPad that he's used for a while was associated with my apple id. we now have set him up with his own id using family sharing. I would like to restore /setup new iPhone from this iPad backup.
can this be done or must we set up iPhone as new?
If you want him to use his AppleID, then you will have to set it up as a new device. If you use your backup it will be associated with your AppleID, not his. Once it is set up with his AppleID, you can set up family sharing to share purchases made with your AppleID.
