Reading iBooks while traveling

Will be traveling to Canada for a few day with spotty Wi-Fi and no cell connection. How can I tell if certain books will be available on the iPad while off line?

Prior to going try putting the iPad into AirPlane mode and see if you can open the books that you will want to read

If they have the cloud icon they aren't stored on the iPad, they are only in the cloud, you have to download them to be able to read them when offline

Great idea, never thought of Airplane Mode.

Some books are on the iPad / some aren’t.

Oddly, the samples open. (Didn’t expect that.)

Books in the reading now section with the cloud won’t open.

Will trying opening the iCloud books and then going back in AirPlane Mode.
