Contacts on Messages

Hi -

Probably a noob question. How do I switch my Messages on my Mac to show me my contacts name instead of phone number?

Welcome!

If the person's name and number are in your Contacts app, the name will show instead of the number.

Hello, MillerCJ28!

To see contact information in messages, this requires the sending party to be in your contacts. If you do not have another iCloud enabled device, you can create contacts right inside of the Mac contacts app. If you have another device with iCloud (iPhone, iPod, iPad), you can enable contacts to sync via iCloud to your Mac. To do this, navigate to system preferences, then iCloud, and check the box next to contacts. If the contacts still do not appear, you will need to preform this action on your other iCloud device.

Have a wonderful day!
