Camera roll & Notes

Hi

I’m using a IPhone 6s Plus 128g with IOS12.31.

When I take a photo it gets saved to (I’m going to call it my camera roll).

Can anyone tell me if I copy pictures from my camera roll to Notes and then delete those copied pictures from my camera roll, will they still be saved in my Notes?

Or does deleting from my camera roll also delete the same pics from my Notes?

Thank you

Bob

Hi

i just clicked on the + album sign created and named the album.

Copied the pic to the new album.

When I deleted from the camera roll it was deleted from the new album.

So what you’re telling me is I never copied any pic, just created a pointer to the new album.

Personally, I don’t like that setup but that’s only my opinion.

By sending it to a Note it appears to remain once deleted from the camera roll.

I guess I’m to use to the old Windows directory for copying and moving files.

I don’t want to get into relying on iCloud and syncing unless I’m backing up my iPhone.

Thanks

The Camera Roll is where photos taken on the iPhone reside. If you move something to another album, all that does is put a pointer for the photo into that album, so you can see it, but the photo itself only resides in the Camera Roll, and when you delete it from the Camera Roll, it deletes it from the phone, period. Are you using iCloud Photos, or are you creating these other albums in other ways? If you wish to arrange photos in albums on the phone, doing that by syncing through iTunes is an option, or you can use iCloud Photos as an option. However, remember that iCloud Photos is just for syncing. The photos are in iCloud, and synced to individual devices. However, if you delete a photo from one device, it deletes it from iCloud as well as any other device it is synced with.

Hi again

So copying a pic from my camera roll to an album then deleting that pic from the camera roll does in fact delete it from the

camera roll

photo stream

album

copying a pic to a Note and then delete the pic from the camera roll, the photo remains in the Note.

This is what I want.

Not sure why IOS deletes the pic from the album

anyways, I think I’ve got my answer

thanks!

On the iPhone, you don't really have access to a file system like Windows, so yes, you are creating an album to make it easier to find a photo based on groupings, but you are not really copying and pasting the photo to the new album, but the pointer as I indicated earlier. If you wish to have photos in only one place, you may be better off importing the photos to the computer from the Camera Roll, then clearing the Camera Roll and then syncing folders of photos that you have created on the computer to the iPhone via iTunes. That way, the photos are archived on the computer for safe keeping, then you can put whichever ones you wish to put back on the iPhone, and they can be arranged as you please into specific albums like Summer Vacation 2018, or Rick's new car, etc. That will keep just the pictures you wish to have on the phone. Again, if you want to add new photos to the folder, you will have to do that on the computer. You will not be able to add photos to those folders from the Camera Roll.
