MacBook Air Freezing

I have the MacBook Air 2018 running Mojave 10.14.4 and it freezes whenever I run apps by apple. Whenever open an app like Messages, Safari, or even finder, my laptop will freeze on me and the only way to fix the problem is to hard reset the computer. The weird thing is, if i download an app from the internet or app store that isn't made by Apple, my laptop runs perfectly. For instance, I browse the internet on Chrome and do schoolwork with Word and Powerpoint and i have yet to have any problems with my system freezing. I have been having this issue since i purchased the laptop in February and nothing seems to fix it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the OS, and I have gone as far as erasing the whole hard drive and still run into the same problem.
