If you bought it from an Apple Store and you're close to the 14 days, and you have all the packaging and the receipt, there's no harm in taking it back to the store and politely asking the manager if an exception can be made. As long as you are pleasant and make it clear that you understand this is an exception, the worst that can happen is they'll say no.
