@Deanur, you are wise to be cautious of links and installing unknown third party apps. If you search these forums you will find that EtreCheck is recommended by all of the forum regulars as it provides very important information about a user's system which is necessary to provide proper assistance. You can also do a little research on the app if you are still concerned. This app is recommended because most people leave out critical information when asking for help just as you did.
Since there are so many reasons for a slow system from hardware issues, to software issues, configuration issues, etc. and with no specific details provided, you may want to take the computer to the Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for assistance or use Apple's official support channels by starting here or clicking the support line on the Apple website.
You could try using Activity Monitor to look for clues.
You could try running the Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostic depending on the age of your computer.
You could also search other solved posts on these forums for common causes of a slow system.

Sorry kaz-k, I thought I could get help from someone who wouldn't make me click on a link. Seems suspicious to me. Although I see you have a "Level 6 (16249 points)", whatever that means. But it definitely looks better than my measly 4 points, lol!
To be totally safe, you can obtain Etrecheck in the MacApp Store.
Only a view of what is going on in your system can be of any help at
all. Just saying your Mini is slow lacks lacks a lot of detail.
