my MacBook Air randomly went super dim earlier today and now the screen won’t even turn on at all. I can hear the start up noise when I turn it off and back on, but the screen doesn’t do a thing. help!!!

Try to start up in Safe mode. Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

Also try this How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
