How to download entire website onto Mac after creating it in iWeb or what new app should I get?

I created my entire website using iWeb. Apple erased my computer and re-installed Mojave 3x and now I can't access my website...in order to update it. I still have the iWeb program and all of the required settings in order to get to my website. The problem is I can't download or see my website pages on my iWeb app. How do I download my entire website so I may work on it (using iWeb)?

Or...is there another app which will allow me to work on my website (which was originally created using iWeb)? I am currently working on 2 Apple computers (Mojave and El Capitan).

Mac mini, OS X 10.11

I was successful in re-creating my “iWeb” existing website…even though all my website’s files had been destroyed:

I made a bootable HD with El Capitan system software and downloaded the “iWeb” app.

My internet provider (who handles my existing website) downloaded all may website’s files to a folder I created.

By downloading the app titled “Multisite for iWeb,” I was then able to re-create my website on my El Capitan HD.

When I opened “iWeb,” all my files were then available…which meant I was able to update my entire “iWeb” website.

Later, I found my newly downloaded “domain” files under “Library” and then under “iWeb.”   (Either “Multisite for iWeb” or “iWeb” itself apparently stored both “Domain” & “Domain.sites2 in my “Library”  and under my ”iWeb” folder.)

Without using "Multisite for iWeb" I don't think I could have ever opened my “iWeb” app and have all of my website’s pages be available.

Maybe this information will help someone else in the future re-creating an existing website when all of that website’s files had been erased.

You can't edit your published iWeb website with iWeb. lt only works on the domain.site file that is created and stored in the User/Library/iWeb folder.

You will have to start over from scratch. You can create a new page with iWeb and then copy and paste items from the published website to the blank page in iWeb.

However, iWeb is an end of life app and hasn't been supported or updated is several years. You would be best served to get EverWeb which is very similar to iWeb in its GUI and you can copy and paste items from the published site into Everweb. There's a demo version so you can try it out before purchasing.

To get your published site on your Mac so you can run it locally with your browser try SiteSucker.
