Recommended "Macs Fan Control" settings for mid-2010 27" iMac w/ SSD
I found a bit of info here from someone using MFC with a mid-2010 27" iMac like mine, the settings they recommended greatly improved the overall temps of my trusty old friend, but the post didn't specify whether or not the OP had an SSD or the original HDD and I was wondering if that would somehow affect the drive sensor as I've upgraded to a SSD. My current MFC settings are;
ODD- Constant Value of 2200
HDD- Constant Value of 2225
CPU- Constant Value of 1900
Temps (in *C) @ Idle Are;
Ambient- 27 (down from 30)
CPU Cores 1 & 2- 38 (down from 51)
CPU Heatsink- 38 (down from 47)
GPU Diode- 47 (down from 54)
GPU Heatsink- 44 (down from 50)
GPU Proximity- 46 (down from 53)
As you can see these drops are fairly substantial and I'm kicking myself for not looking them up sooner; I was foolishly using the settings recommended by the previous owner of the machine without doing any research, even though my Mac seemed to stay really hot in the upper-left corner. When I asked the guy about this I was told it was normal. I probably could've extended the life of my already elderly (but 100% reliable and sufficiently powerful) iMac if I had sought this info out sooner. Hopefully the readings I'm getting are correct given the fact I have an SSD installed and any info is greatly appreciated!
