Why can't you update your apps, what happens ?
Does whatever you are referring to show on the account's purchase history as being paid : See your purchase history in the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support ?
Or are they 'pending' and might be just : About payment card authorization holds from the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support ?
