security update10.13.6 003 install problems

iMac 27inch late 2013

i tried installing this but the computer froze during restart, error message said firmware update error. After many attempts i finally got it to boot. Now App Store is prompting me to install this update again. Should I? Any suggestions for avoiding a repeat of the problem?

On my iMac with HIgh Sierra 10.13.6 the update would notinstall and I could not restart my computer until I restored it from a backup disc. Has anyone else had this problem? How can install this security update on HIgh Sierra 10.13.16 when it will not start up when I try to install it. This is Security Update 2020-005 10.13.6. The computer will not restart and gives an error message saying I should close the installer.

Security update 2020-005-10.13.6 hangs when attempting to apply update. My my mid 2011 iMac running High Sierra 10.13.6 hangs when attempting to apply this update. Restart leads to black screen with white cursor in top left corner for unlimited amount of time. Shutdown with power button and restart resumes regular use, but update is still not installed. I've tried safe mode without success. Apple Support says "legacy systems" need help from authorized service provider, or from internet. Any ideas? Any way to download the file and apply manually? Many have had a problem, try installing it in Safe Mode... & disconnect any other drives.
