Reducing Time Machine Size

I have a 1t backup drive. I created two backup partitions. One for my son and another for myself. My son has gone to the dark side. He uses a tablet from IBM.

I would like to save his partition on the Time Machine but reduce the size since he longer needs the space.

How can I reduct the size to add to my Time Machine partition.
