How delete bookmarks in bar in Safari Version 12.1 (14607.1.40.1.4)

How delete bookmarks in bar in Safari Version 12.1 (14607.1.40.1.4)? I have deleted some on the left column by holding down control to get the dropdown menu and then delete, but the two right arrows at the top right if the window still have a long list that I would like to delete some on them.
