iPhone SE does not support eSIM so if you want to avoid roaming charges you have the choice between WiFi or a local SIM. If you need to talk while moving around town you need the local SIM but that means a temporary number and possibly limited data allowances on prepay. If you are content to restrict phone usage to while you are in hotels etc then WiFi may be a better choice.

eSim short for embedded sim card is not available on an iPhone. You can't "get" an eSim. It requires special built in hardware in the phone that did not exist when the SE was made.

  • You can get a physical sim card like the one currently in your iPhone, from a carrier in Peru if your iPhone is unlocked.
  • You can contact your carrier, and see if they offer roaming plans in Peru or Latin America that may fit your travel dates and budget.
  • Otherwise, yes Wifi is the only choice.
