GTA3 requires at least 12mb of available video memory

Hi all

I am running Windows 7 32-bit on my mid 2011 MacBook Pro (Sierra) and trying to play GTA3. I get this message:

"gta3 requires at least 12mb of available video memory"

I have googled for answers and tried "Compatibility Modes" and "Run as Administrator" but I think these suggestions are for PCs. I think my problem might be in the BootCamp drivers

Any suggestions?

cheers

When you are running your Windows 7 via BootCamp you do need to do things for Windows like Run As Administrator, set compatibility modes. etc, just like you would if you were running Windows 7 on a Dell or whatever other brand of laptop.

For GTA 3 set the Run as Administrator and the compatibility as Windows 98/ME.

You can also try turning off DEP:

Finally, if it's still not working go into regedit and change the following:

Under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw change value to EmulationOnly=0 (instead of =1).

Just an update with this - It needs to be set to "Run As Administrator" but in "Compatibility Mode" it works with everything else except Windows 98/ME, there is an issue with the Logitech dual action gamepad (but it might work with other gamepads)

The issue with the 12mb of video memory was resolved with correct Boot Camp drivers but rcosrta887 your suggestions help solve problems I didn't know I had until the game worked so I will mark this topic as solved
