Macbook pro 5,1 upgrade from macOS 10.5.8

Hi guys i have a macbook pro 5,1 with macOS 10.5.8 but last supported OS is macOS el capitan

if i click on the software upgrade icon he tells me "Your software is updated" how i resolve?

In order to 'upgrade' past an older (fully updated earlier Mac OS X) you must get the later

retail install DVD; in case of your Mac, said to be running 10.5.8: that'd need Snow Leopard.

The Snow Leopard 10.6.3 retail full install DVD has been available through online Apple store.

To order from there is the path; other sources may ask significantly more; some offer bad copies.

Once you get the DVD installer and use it, there are a few additional 'updates' before the base

level is fully there; and then it may be used to access the Mac App Store for a newer system.

The computer can also withstand additional correct-spec RAM to 8GB (memory.)

more from the Apple support software downloads pages online.

Once there, and updated to last steps to get a later Mac OS X, you could use special

links to App store in this upgrade article. ~ Be sure your hard drive has adequate free

space and you have backups of the content in case the original hard drive fails.
