mirror image on facetime

Recently, I found that it is possible to mirror image the camera on facetime using the front facing camera (that being reverse left and right, like snapchat photos vs. camera app photos). I have NO idea how to do this and it has been done on my phone before, but my boyfriend refuses to tell me how to do it. I've googled it as much as I possibly could but to no success. Help?
