Adding to MacOS9's excellent post, drives formatted Fat 32 have a 4GB file size limitation no matter what the capacity of the drive. So if your movie is larger than that you would want the drive to be formatted ExFat, that has no file size limitation and can be read by any computer.
If necessary you can use the Disk Utility app on your mat to reformat the drive to ExFat. Be aware that reformatting a drive erases all data on it, so first back up the drive or remove any data that you want to keep.

It is possible to export the iMovie file as a .mp4 file which can be transferred onto a flash drive. On iMovie, click the share icon in the top right hand corner of the screen and the click file. It will ask you what you want to name the file and the quality etc. Then it should export to your desktop as .mp4 and you should be able to put that on a flash drive and view it on any computer.
