Keyboard on Macbook Pro 2018

Is anyone else having problems with the tap of the space bar actually making a double tap, thus putting a period after every other word?

It appears you are not alone. Apple have announced this Keyboard Service Program recently and your model appears to qualify:

I understand your frustration but we are not Apple. We are end users just like you. We don't know why Apple does or doesn't do anything unless they announce it. All they have announced on this issue is that they are fixing the problem.

I do know that one poster here reported that his MBP came back from keyboard service with, in addition to the new keyboard, a new upper deck and battery (batteries are glued to the upper deck). That takes more parts but shortens the labor time. MBP keyboards are not like the old G3 PowerBooks where you could flip a couple of clips, unplug one wire and lift out the board without tools. Look up a take-apart video for your model and I believe you will understand why it takes time.

Having worked service in another industry I know that our hangup with programs like this was a supply of repair parts. Sometime the execs would announce a repair program without telling Engineering or Manufacturing to schedule production runs of redesigned parts needed for the service program. Same problem as always: humans involved!
