I've had my iPhone XR for a few weeks and today it died suddenly

I've had my phone for a few weeks and today it died suddenly. At first I thought dead battery and plugged it in for a recharge. However its been over an hour and the screen is still black. Has this happened to anyone else and what can I do to resuscitate it?
