Why am I not allowed a refund for an App?

I recently installed Voice Synth Instrument from the app store on my iPhone, which comes with in-app purchases. It costs about 6 EUROS to unlock the features, which I paid, only to discover that the microphone didn't work. I then found out that you have to pay another 6 EUROS to unlock the microphone. Without the microphone access this app is pretty useless. Rather than pay again, I decided to just get a refund, but was denied this by Apple. Apparently this is not eligible. Why is this? I feel like I've been scammed out of 6 EUROS. Not much, but If I can't do anything about it, it will erode my trust with apple and the app store considerably.

You would have to ask iTunes Support, we are fellow users. Have you tried asking them : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww (click on your country's flag, the country where you live, and which is therefore the country on the account ; click on Contact Support towards the top right ; click on Get Help under 'Talk To Us’) ?
