aiff files erased

Tried to open aiff audio files on my MacBook Air. Files are located in a folder on my iCloud Drive and were working fine until today. Files won’t open with iTunes or quick player. When I clicked on get info the duration of the file is 00.00.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Trouble Accessing Music Files After Recovery Operation After I cleaned up some of the files on my Mac Mini I was unable to access my music files which I had installed on an external drive. I ran the recovery operation and everything came back to normal except I still am having issues accessing my music files. I continue to get a "file not found..." error. The strange thing is after I click on any song and cancel the error, the song will play. I also seem to have TWO music files. I have checked the location and the one file is on my external drive and the other is in the media folder. I have tried everything and I am lost. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

files missing I have all my music files stored on an external hard drive (about 100 GB). This was connected to my MacBook Pro and I was listening to this music library on the Music app. At some point this stopped playing and the song files in the Music app had an exclamation next to them as in missing location. I looked on Finder and the external hard drive was still mounted and whilst the Folders and Folder structure was still all there the audio files were all missing with the album folders appearing empty. Doing Get Info on the top level folder appeared to show the size of the folder and data still being correct. Also if I did a spotlight search for a song then the mp3 file appeared when searching for it it and I could still play the audio file. Yet I couldn't see the files in Finder and iTunes/Music app couldn't locate the files. This seem to happen suddenly and the external hard drive has been fine before. Other files on the external hard drive in a top level different folder (i.e. images) I can still view so it appears to be just be my music library. Any suggestions on how to get them to appear in Finder and Music again? The external hard drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended.

Can someone please help restoring lost files from external drive? Hello, I have had a generic external drive for several years that has worked without any issues. This evening, after realizing that Apple Music had once again "lost" songs from my personal library, I connected my external drive to restore the missing songs from my backup. All of the folders and files were listed; however, I was unable to open any of the files due to an "unsupported format." This occurred for every type of file format, including .zip. After searching for a solution, I was guided to disk utility where I attempted to run first aid which resulted in an error message. I then unmounted the drive (which I thought was synonymous with eject) which appears to have deleted all of the contents including the name of my drive. Now the drive is no longer recognized by my MacBook making it impossible for me to determine if these files are lost forever which I am sadly assuming to be the case. Is there any way that I may not have lost all of these important files? Many of them are still stored in cloud storage, but many were photos, old papers, home movies, etc. that will be lost forever if my drive has been deleted. So: Can anyone please let me know if I may be able to recover these files? If this is possible, how do I do it? What may have been the reason(s) that I was suddenly unable to open any of the files stored on my external drive? And why would this happen when using disk utility? Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.
