My apple watch glitched after swimming

Okay so I took my Apple Watch for a swim the first time on the 17th of June 2019. Everything was great and working good. Then I took it off to get in the shower like I always do, but when I got out the shower I then got my Apple Watch from the counter to clean it which I did. Dried the watch off pretty good and then went to my room, but when I came back it was glitching up and even called 911 by itself without me wearing it or touching it. I couldn’t turn it off either or hard reset. So it took me 30 mins to turn it off as it was randomly selecting menus. Then when I try to turn it back on it kept boot looping the Apple logo for like 10 mins. I put it on the charger to see if that would help, but after I did that it showed the Apple charger cord and a red lighting bolt and when I sat it back on the charger turned green. It wouldn’t even charge after that. So am I screwed?

There are no issues with any of the updates which might cause the problems you describe, and you would notice immediately after the update if there was a bug or a failed update. Even a failed update is very unlikely unless you ignore the directions and do something silly like resetting the device part way through the update.

Use your AppleCare+ but don’t just do a walk in, make an appointment unless you are prepared for a long wait in the Apple Store.

So I took it to the Apple store which was good and they told me they had to send it off for a repair at no cost because it didn’t show any physical signs of damage. He told me it could be on their end that it might need reflashed or it could be something wrong on their end. So that’s a plus. If there is damage from water he told me Apple will contact me by number or email and that they will access the damage and then a price will be placed for me to pay if it has damage.

Those are questions which can only be answered after Apple examines your device and checks your AppleCare+ cover.

okay so after everything got sent and stuff they gave me a new Apple Watch because my old one had a hardware problem. So I didn’t even use my two accidental breaks and it was all free. No refurbished Apple Watch just a brand new one.

I haven’t took mine in yet. I probably will sometime this weekend. Hopefully it’s just a software glitch or bricked or something so I can get a new one. I’m never updating my Apple Watch ever again until I know the new updates work. Just Incase it was that. Did you swim with yours too?

Will they even cover water damage for my Apple Watch if I have the Apple Care+ and was wondering if they did replace it, will I get a used or new Apple Watch?
