I just bought an album on iTunes today, one song says I've already purchased it (which I haven't) and it won't let me purchase or download it. It is a song I already own on a different album, but so are several from this new album (it's a compilation) any idea on how I can buy this song?

Eventually, I just searched the individual song I was missing in the iTunes store, ready to buy it again, and it showed $1.29 instead of "Purchased". When I clicked to buy it, it said I had already bought it and gave me the option to re-download it for free. Hope this works!"

You've bought the whole album ? That will include all songs on it - 'Purchased' means that it's purchased but not currently downloaded on the computer, 'play' means it is downloaded and can therefore be played from the computer.
Does it show for redownloading : Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books from the App Store, iTunes Store, and Apple Books - Apple Support ? If not, check to see if you've hidden it : Hide and unhide music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and books - Apple Support
It said "purchased" before I pre-ordered the album. so I was only charged 15.00 for the album, as opposed to full price. The option to purchase or redownload the song has never been available, and I currently have nothing hidden.
If it's not showing in the Purchased redownloading area try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can push a download of it to you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww (click on your country's flag, the country where you live, and which is therefore the country on the account ; click on Contact Support towards the top right ; click on Get Help under 'Talk To Us’)
