I read that music from Apple Music can be downloaded to an iPhone or Mac , is this also true for an iPod touch? that's where I keep all my music , not on my phone. thanks

He means yes, you can download the music to an iPod Touch. It must be running iOS 11 or later I believe. That is, a 6th or 7th generation iPod Touch running iOS 11 or 12, can access the Apple Music subscription service.
