cant turn my new iphone on

so i recently purchased an iphone 7 and upon unboxing and trying to booth the phone, my excitement was quenched when i realized it wouldn't turn on .

i read online how it could be a software problem and the article suggested i tried restoring the software with iTunes. so i went ahead and tried that as well. i was able to get the phone into recovery mode but every time, during the process of restoration, i would see an error message indicating the phone

could not be updated or restored. the error code is 4005. can someone please help me out or do i have to return the phone
