Can use Edit Features in Desktop version of Apple Numbers on my iPad

I used to be able to request the desktop version of Apple's Numbers on my iPad and use all the edit features like position, shapes, alignment, etc., but now when I go there, these features are all frozen and won't let me update them. Some work; it seems like any one that has a field that you can type a # into is frozen. Any idea why this is? It's driving me NUTS. The desktop version is SO much better than the app; I can't really use the app version of Numbers to do what I need to do.
