AirPods screeching noise/sound while on a call.

Hi Apple, what's up with this?

AirPods screeched multiple times during call, to the point I might have a panic attack, rip them out of my ears, throw them across the room, break them, and I have to end up buying a new pair. Is this your diabolical plan all along (muah ha ha). But seriously...any solutions? Or how to prevent the problem?

Same question from another community member and didn't see a response. See below from 2 years ago.

AirPods - High Pitched Screech on Calls

Has anyone experienced high pitched screeching sounds with AirPods while on a call? It's happened to me on a few different occasions where on a call talking and all of a sudden, I hear a loud high pitched sound on both units. The volume is extremely loud to the point where you think it's damaging to your ears. I've had to rip out the AirPods when this happens because of the frequency and volume of the sound.

I looked into some other interesting responses about these, but hopefully they solve your problem. I did try #1... and I'll keep you posted if it happens again after I've done it. And response #2 doesn't apply to me because their wasn't another iphone near me for feedback.

REPONSE # 1

Try the steps in this article, even though you're not experiencing the issues outlined there. They may help: Get help with your AirPods

If you can’t connect to your AirPods anymore

If you don't hear the connect chime after a few seconds or can't hear when your AirPods are in your ears:

Make sure that your AirPods are charged.

Make sure that the device you want to connect with has Bluetooth enabled.

Make sure that you select AirPods as your audio device.

Still can’t connect? Follow these steps on your iOS device.

Go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap the icon next to your AirPods.1 Then tap Forget This Device.

Put your AirPods in the case and close the lid. Wait 15 seconds, then open the lid.

Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until you see the status light flash amber a few times, then flash white.

Place your AirPods close to your device. Follow the steps on your iOS device's screen.

Once complete, check to see if you experience this high pitched sound again.

In response to a husband and wife who just bought airpods and got screeching noise...apparently feedback. Hmmm...

"You are getting feedback from the other phone that is causing the noise. Move farther apart and see if it stops."
