How apps like WhatsApp work on dual sim phone with 2 SIM cards? Do I have WhatsApp for 2 numbers or I need to choose one only?

You have to choose only one number. WhatsApp doesn't allow you to use two profiles in the app.
Contact the developers and request that feature.
