I had an Iphone 5SE (not under contract), that I traded in for the Iphone XR with Apple's trade in program. I bought the phone at an Apple Store (I got $80 for the SE). I chose the 24 month payment plan. My carrier is Sprint. My question- is the Iphone XR that I got, locked in to Sprint? Or can I pop in another SIM card in there, if I travel to Europe and get a pre paid SIM card ?

It depends on whether the payment plan is through Apple or through Sprint.
For Example, I bought my Xr at my local Apple Store using the AT&T Next payment program. It's locked to AT&T since I actually purchased it from AT&T. Apple was just acting as an agent for AT&T.

It's in your receipt, I think you got a carrier locked iPhone with a 24 months plan.
If you're device is not paid off and you're in a contract with Sprint, your device is locked to the carrier.
Is my iPhone locked to Sprint, even if I bought it at the Apple Store?
