Excel file completely disappeared...

Hi, I recently saved (to Desktop) and closed an Excel file on my MacBook Pro. Now I cant find it anywhere. Ive tried Spotlight, Finder, Terminal/TemporaryItems, TimeMachine, and its not showing up anywhere. Seems to have completely disappeared. Any ideas???

I just tested creating a new Excel workbook, deleting it, then using Recents. The even deleted file showed up in Recents in the Trash.

I would suspect that if you didn't find it in Recents, you never saved the file.

I don't know why Microsoft doesn't use Apple's autosave/Versions system. I pretty much never save a document unless I need a file to send to someone.
