Black Screen

I opened my 2018 Mac Pro this AM it wastefully charged and the screen was on. I closed the laptop to move to another room. When I opened to again the screen was black. I connected it to power, rebooted it and still the screen is black. Any suggestions for a remedy?

Try doing a safe boot to see if that changes anything for you.

The simplest thing your Mac can do is Option boot. The code is all in ROM.

This should draw a gray screen, then add an icon for each potentially-bootable drive it finds over the next five minutes.

If your Mac chimes, that sound is generated in software when your Mac passes the Power-On Self Test, so most functions (except disk drives yet tested) are working.
